meanwhile Mick and myself had a look around town before the market opened up,
as you might expect more than a few temples, just a shame about the telephone cables getting in the way,
this is the view looking across the Mekong river, it is surprising the amount of goods that go across every day to Lao,
the town has a "touristy" feel about it, lots of restaurants with everything in Thai and English,
and some very smart guest houses over looking the river,
the shops are now open, I bought some tins of ginseng to make tea from this one, there are so many shops like this here, but shop around, one tin 120 baht in one shop only a few shops away and it was 80 baht!
some of the buildings look really old indeed,
we decided to stop off for a drink, 
30 baht for a ice coffee and a hot coffee, and boy were they strong!
a open area inside the market,
lots of souvenirs for the tourists!
and at the entrance to the market some very ornate temples,
this one has a shrine at the front of it,
where offerings can be made, there were many joss sticks burning,
and another temple at the back, we then had a call from the girls to say they were back in Thailand so off we went to pick them up.
