I Have Seen Both Versions Of "The House On Haunted Hill"

and always thought that it was based on a real place, but I did not have a clue where, well when looking for information on something totally different I found the Waverly Hills Tuberculosis Sanatorium, it is a natural in my opinion for both films, the 1939 version with Vincent Price or the newer more gory and less frightening one of 1999 with Geoffrey Rush, the picture above features on the weird Kentucky web site,
although the fictitious house is on a hill this facade looks so menacing,
now over grown and forlorn, it still holds some sense of foreboding,
for more pictures like the ones above go here, or moderen ones here and if you want a real scare about ghosts and how up to 64,000 people died there, some of them in some really gruesome experiments and a factual history of the place look no further than this article, by Bobette Bryan, a real scary looking place-even today.
