Gordon's New England,

if you have a view of the sea, river, lakes, fields or a golf course, even a nice view, off street parking, patios, conservatories, a child's tree house, a garage for your car - even a bus stop nearby, you WILL be paying more council tax after the election, the Valuation Office Agency is building a huge database of all 23million homes in England,

Tory local government spokesman Caroline Spelman said last night: 'Only Labour would think of taxing people for looking out of their own windows.' the cost of any of the above in the opening sentence could be up to up to £600 a year, it is not clear if that is each, i.e. if you have a view of a river, live in a cul-de-sac, have a bus stop near by and your kid has a tree house = £600 X 4 = £2,400 a year,

does this seem a bit far fetched? ask the people that live in Wales, it has already happened to them! where it led to 33 per cent of homes going up a council tax band and only eight per cent going down, did I mention that more than 13,000 homes with swimming pools are on the database, with separate categories for indoor and outdoor, the VOA has also recorded 1,731 homes with equestrian paddocks, 4,933 stables, 2,863 tennis courts and 2,268 penthouses,

the Government has spent £13million so far on the VOA's database, ministers have also quietly renewed a multi-million-pound deal with a leading property website to access details of sale prices and floor plans of tens of thousands of homes, now do you think that Gordon would have spent all of that money and then not use the results? well that seems money well spent then.
