This Is Something I Could Not Make Up!
many years ago in the council offices in Rochdale,
council workers were paid for the time it took waiting and traveling by lift, in some cases up to the pay of 2 working days a year if they are on the highest floor, the 12th, well guess what? even though that is a thing of the long and distant past workers in the new building are still being paid the same "waiting and traveling time" even though there is no waiting and the lifts are high speed, their pay is now under revue, I wonder why it has taken so long? or maybe the officials that make the wage review work on the 12th floor!
Perhaps it is something as simple as the fact that they clock in and out each day on the ground floor before traveling up to their offices. Therefore, in essence, they are paid for riding on, and waiting for, the elevators.
ReplyDeleteDear Jil, that was the point the old Victorian building where the staff did have to wait for several minuets for a lift was demolished more than a few years ago, when the new building was completed there were more than enough high speed lifts, but the 2 days pay for nothing went on, but hey! city councils are awash with money! best regards, Stan and Diana.
