I Mentioned A couple Of Days Ago About The Sale Of This Book,
found in a bathroom and purchased for 'a few shillings' in the late 1960s or early 1970s,
it was a first edition of Charles Darwin's 'On the Origin of Species' Christies who conducted the auction had estimated it would sell for between £40,000 and £60,000, it went for, wait for it! £103,000 today - the 150th anniversary of its original publication, as I said in my original post, why do I never seem to have things like this laying around in my house?
