I Thought Our Christmas Tree Was A Bit Small,

but perhaps not, after seeing this picture of the tree in Sacriston, County Durham, but the council, like my mother when she bought clothes that were to big for me said 'you will grow in to them' or in this case the tree into the lighted frame for it, Allen Turner, Sacriston Parish Councillor, said: "It's the first time the village has had a living tree, the weather was horrendous a couple of weeks ago and the tree was damaged, part of it snapped off at the top, if that hadn't happened the tree would have fitted in the frame better." it must have been a very tall top bit of the tree looking at the frame, resident John Meek, 72, blasted: "This tree is an insult, the council were saying the tree will grow, but that's an insult to the intelligence of the people, do they think we are ignorant? anyone who has ever held a spade knows the tree isn't going to grow any bigger, the growing tip of the tree has gone, and all that will happen is the branches will grow out, it will get wider and look a mess." as councillors finally bowed to pressure last night and agreed to find a replacement, Daniel Johnson, working at his father's chip shop opposite, said: "It looks a bit bare, but that's modern and artistic if you like that sort of thing." I could not have said it better myself!
