We Had A Quiet Day Today,

so it was feet up and watch a movie after finishing the blog,
although we had seen it before we thought we would give The Day the Earth Stood Still, the 2008 version another try, great special effects but take those away and the comments I made when we first looked at it still apply, the 1951 original leaves the 2008 version squirming painfully in the dust, it could have been so much better,

then on to the evening meal chicken salad,

with a small bowl of mayonnaise, I can not see any improvement yet, but I guess it is still early days,

followed by my favorite fruit, lychees, if you want to grow them in the UK or else where look on the link, now the season has started they are getting bigger and juicer every time we buy them, then to Thepprsitt night market, we were not sure if it would be open due to the curfew but it was, I needed a new phone card, the sign on the normally 24 hour open 7-11 said open 05.00 close 21.00 again I guess due to the curfew,
as last week the coconut juice tasted so nice Diana had another one today, one of the many stalls selling food, this one specializes in the sweet/sour mangoes,
we arrived at our normal time, but unlike other weeks every stall was up and running, I guess to offset the early closing tonight,
again opposite the bar there was not a promotion, but two vehicles were up for sale,
this is the plant/pets/fish shop aisle,
a lot of people out here keep song birds, rather like years ago people would keep canaries back in the UK, but over here you can buy home made cages for them, these are from 800 baht up to 2,200 for a fancy one,
one new yellow/green flowering orchid this week,
nice, but I prefer them a bit brighter coloured for me,
then after shopping for a few bits and pieces Diana arrived back at the bar, then a piece of good news from Mike at about 7.15, the curfew had been lifted! the Mayor of Pattaya announced that life could come back to Pattaya this evening, two problems though, getting everybody back to work in an hour or two and telling all of the police not to stop everyone from opening, I hope it all went well, the downside was that it was too late to save the market, most had already started packing up their goods as most of the customers had already left, by 7.30 it was very quite indeed,
so before we settled down for the evening Diana prepared a couple of fresh mango's for us to snack on as we watched the evenings DVD's,
first For a Few Dollars More, or as it was known elsewhere Per qualche dollaro in piĆ¹, great film, I have to say it has not aged one bit, even though it is 45 years old!
last night Diana just loved the second series of Bottom, so tonight we watched a few episodes from the third and final series, British humour at it's best, then to round of the evening, from The Case-Book of Sherlock Holmes, The Last Vampyre, Sherlock Holmes investigates strange and tragic happenings in a village that appear linked to a man who seems to be like a vampire, but is he? then off to bed.
