This Has The Makings Of Another 'Good Luck' Story,

an unnamed shopper bought the painting for £100,
the frame looked worth it, not so the painting, or so he thought, the owner said he bought the painting in 2007 from a Northampton second hand shop but forgot all about it until a year ago when he bought a digital camera and decided to take some close-up photos of it to send to an auctioneer, what a smart move! He took it to auction house Wilfords of Wellingborough on Monday, owner Tim Conrad said: ‘When people come in and say they’ve got a Cezanne, you tend to think, “Of course you do”, but when I saw the brushwork on this painting, I knew it was very skillful, we are talking about £40million if not more, it would be a major event in the art world.’

Cezanne’s 1893 painting Still Life With Curtain, Pitcher And Bowl Of Fruit is one of the ten most expensive paintings ever sold, going for £38million in 1999, so the owner will have to wait and see, meanwhile if I were a second hand shop owner I would be looking at my stock a lot more closely now!
