In The 28 Years I Have Been Coming To Thailand,
there are still many places even in Pattaya I have not yet visited, so tonight we are off to visit one of them, first stop the hotel the boys are staying at, The Sabai Resort,
whilst waiting it was surprising how many guest and visitors looked at the aquarium,
not a great deal of fish, but relaxing enough to look at, then we were off, and where is it that I have never been to before?
the Alcazar cabaret show, it is at the north end of Second Road about 500 meters on the right before the Dolphin roundabout,
the signage is flamboyant to say the least,
Mahendra and Madhu, the Alcazar in the background,
but before the show a meal and a drink,
behind the outdoor tables there is a huge restaurant/disco, but we elected to sit outside,
and this is what it is called, evidently it is also part of the Alcazar group,
Mahendra who has been more than successful at golf this trip,
Sunda, who very kindly picked up the tab,
Mudhu and Sunda, contemplating the forth coming cricket match, just goes to show how much I know I thought it was all over when India won yesterday, but it appears there is another game to go,
after the meal which was excellent, fishcakes, huge prawns, chicken and cashews, we were off to the show,
outside one of the two statues either side of the entrance,
and a picture of some of the stars from the show,
after the introduction the curtains opened and the stage erupted in a riot of colour and sparkles,
the lead singer made her way down the steps to the front of the stage,
next up, literally through the floor, a dance trio,
then one of the set pieces, a dance and song sequence from Thailand.
the costumes were absolutely stunning,
following that a comedy act, (note to self do not sit in the front row!),
meanwhile the stage was being set for the next number, a scene I guess from Bali,
complete with entrance and exit by rickshaw,
then to a more modern backdrop, Singapore perhaps?
from China in mist and mystery a tale of love as the heroine seeks her lover,
next a flamboyant dance number as the stage is set,
for a scene from the Arabian Nights,
but the music as Madhu told me was a 100% Indian number, belly dancers swaying to the beat,
then the stage moved to, I am guessing Taiwan,
the act finished with the beat of drums,
a futuristic number followed, shades of Fritz Lang,
the robot metamorphosis's to a dancer,
a double act followed,
one performer two roles,
the penultimate act, a night at the museum,
the night watchman makes his rounds and all is well,
but then he leaves and the statues come alive!
after this number,
the Grand Finale, from Russia,
the lead singer,
more dancers take to the stage,
the backdrop was I guess Red Square,
by now all of the preformers were on stage to take a bow, a great show, it is just a shame that Diana was in the Philippines, but when we return to Thailand I will book a couple of tickets for us, great show, well worth seeing if you are in town, out of interest the front 4 rows downstairs are 600 baht, the rest 300 baht,
also if you want to meet the ladies for a photo shot afterwards you can, I guess 100 baht will do the trick for you to pose with them whilst your friends take your picture,
I asked the boys if any of them wanted their picture taken but there were no takers, strangly though the lady in blue asked for Andy's phone number as she had lost it, then for us a quick drink in the hotel, we said our goodbyes as the boys will be leaving over the next few days and early next week, a great time was had by all, then for me home, a vodka soda, head phones on to listen to some music then off to bed.
