Sunday Again Already,

where does the time go?
so for us it was off for Sunday lunch,
to the News Cafe for their Sunday buffet, the restaurant is on Thappraya Road, the one that goes over the hill between Pattaya and Jomtien,
there is ample off road parking outside,
just mind the elephants!
the entrance is in the middle of the building with plenty of out door seating to both the right
and left,
although we were not the first there we had a huge choice of tables,
so to the salad bar first for a selection salad and sliced chicken,
plus some potato salad,
the same for me, 'Cheers!',
next course some seafood salad,
there were 8 or so main course dishes, a couple of the trays had salad in them,
Diana had some chicken wings and satay,
and a few satay for me,
by now Diana was on the dessert of fresh fruit,
but for me a couple of spare ribs,
this is their card and address if you want to call in,
and map, the meal was just 199 baht a head for the buffet, house wine at 160 a glass, but great value for money, there is no way you could buy the ingredients for a spread like this if you are eating on your own,
then home for an afternoon game of Monopoly, I sort of won with 8 hotels and 12 houses on the board, Diana said a phone call near the end of the game disrupted her concentration!
then out for the night, we do not normally go out on a Sunday but this was a special occasion,
it was Grieg's birthday so he was having a party and invited us along, but first we went for a walk along Walking Street,
I have to take a picture of these signs every time I walk past,
the amount of thought that must have gone into them,
the trouble was getting past the gold shops! gold is now selling for 22,100 baht a baht, (15.6 grams of 23K gold £447.00), worse Christmas is just around the corner!
our first stop was the Pattaya Beer Garden, it is just at the start of Walking Street on Beach Road at the rear of the Siren Bar complex,
Diana looking as lovely as ever,
the place was so crowded we could not sit at an outside seat, but we still had a nice view of some of the other sea front restaurants and the bay,
this is the rear of the Sea Zone restaurant,
draught beer for me, 45 baht,
and a diet coke for Diana,
at the end of one of the restaurants was this sail like neon display, I am not sure what it is supposed to be, but it looked nice,
we were still a little full from lunch, so some roasted cashew nuts for me,
'Cheers!', from both of us,
Diana decided on a slice of pizza,
one thing we did notice was that City Hall had put up a new sign that changed colour, very nice it looked too, an improvement over the old one,
the reflection of the sail like neon decoration,
then past the front of the restaurants we were looking at the seating area of earlier,
then to Roxy's to meet Grieg and his girlfriend Nok for his birthday party, great fun was had by all, not sure who the girl in the white suit was though!
after copious amounts of vodka soda we made our way home, but by now as it was late Diana was feeling a bit peckish, so a stop at the pancake stall,
and this is how a mango pancake is made, chop the mango into little pieces,
flatten a piece of dough,
throw it it in the air in a cicular fashion to make it bigger,
and keep doing that a few times,
till it is thin and nearly fits the pan,
that's about the right size,
into the pan, mangos on top, a bit of butter underneath,
fold,
cook,
cut,
cover with condensed milk,
pay and go!
we walked across a very quiet Second Road,
past the foot spa, these seem to be springing up everywhere, next motorbike taxi and home to 388, during the day whilst playing Monopoly
we watched War of the Worlds, good special effects but we put it on more for some thing in the background as we had watched it before,
we watched Bootmen again, great dance routine in a disused steel mill, whilst also enjoying the mango pancake, delicious! then for us off to bed.

  2. Dear Anonymous, you are so right, how long has it been now? 5,6,7 years or more, but the good news was that it was finished last April, as announced in one of the local newspapers, I think they meant in 2012! but one day I am sure it will be finished, I just hope I am around to see it! as an aside I wonder if they will have a opening ceremony? best regards, Stan and Diana.
