Back In 1950 Jack Perkins Paid £60 For A Still Running Bugatti Type 35,

he discovered this car in 1950 at an aerodrome in Nottinghamshire, where it was being driven around by ground staff, he set about building the fastest possible Type 35B, the result is above, which featured a methanol burning engine and a streamlined single-seater body, the car made its debut at Prescott, the home of the Bugatti’s Club, on 19 May 1954, setting a best time of 52.15 seconds, Jack retired from racing the car in 1988 when he was 78 years old,

the car was then returned to its original two-seater Grand Prix specification by historic racing specialist, Rod Jolley, sadly Jack passed away before it's completion, after being exhibited at Haynes Motor Museum in Somerset, it has been decided to sell the car through the auction house of Bonhams, as part of its annual sale of Collectors’ Motor Cars and Automobilia at Goodwood Festival of Speed on 1 July 2011, it has attracted a pre-sale estimate of £400,000 – 500,000, would I like it? you bet! but in all fairness I would prefer someone to buy it and continue to use it where it belongs, on a race track.
