Last Seen In 1924,

the Sambas stream toad or Bornean rainbow toad, Ansonia latidisca, has been photographed in colour, the strange mix of colours can be put down to camouflage, a warning to predators not to eat it as it may be poisonous or both, despite its flamboyant appearance, the rainbow toad is known from only three specimens and a black-and-white drawing from the 1920s, a team led by ecologist Indraneil Das rediscovered the toad in the mountain jungles of western Sarawak, which is located between Malaysia's Sarawak state and Indonesia's Kalimantan Barat Province, I wonder what other of natures treasures are awaiting their turn to be rediscovered?
