Derby City Council Have Restructured Their Bin Collections,

to save money,

but the plan has hit a slight snag, the binmen now rushed off their feet by the new schedules has left the refuse crews without time to hand out recycling bags along with information about its new recycling scheme and details of collection dates, oh dear what to do?


then it came to Mick McLachlan, the council’s head of waste management and disposal in a blinding flash, send the recycling bags by post to every household, that's the green way to save money! councillor Chris Poulter, cabinet member for neighbourhoods, believes posting the packs was necessary, as opposed to Unison representative Moz Greenshields who said, 'if the round times are so tight that there is not enough space for bin crews to deliver these bags, it begs the question whether this restructure has been properly thought through and is right for Derby',



Robert Oxley, campaign manager of the Taxpayers’ Alliance said: 'it’s ridiculous that Derby City Council have spent at least £38,000 mailing everyone recycling bags for their left-over cardboard', the council has so far posted about 100,000 bags and information packs at a cost of around 38p a pack, although it could not provide an overall cost because not all had been sent out yet,
