Nick Has A Double Whammy!

it started at the fishing park,

strangely enough the place was packed, we normally have the whole park to ourselves, so we had to go to the extreme end of the walkway, Nick settled under an umbrella,

with Diana and myself at the end of the boardwalk, Diana settled down with a copy of Tai-Pan,

 Nick and myself,

soon Nick is into a fish so I gave a hand in landing it,

1 - 0 to Nick,

the rainy season is now finally and thankfully over, clear blue skies every day now,

fish number two to Nick, I still had not even had a bite,

 the duck was still here,

my float did not make a move, but it was appreciated by the local damselfly population!

 another to Nick,

 a nice sized fish too,

 as was the next,

and another, still not a nibble for me,

the duck came past again looking for some bread,

 yet another for Nick,

it was starting to get late, my apparent failure to catch a single fish was taken up by Diana,

but try as she might still not a bite,

meanwhile Nick was still reeling them in,

 another nice sized fish,

time for a portrait from Diana as she hand held the camera,

I am looking pensive as time runs out,

then it is time to go, score 9 - 0 to Nick, I did not get a single bite even though we used the same bait and were only sitting less than 3 yards apart,

then to Nick and Maureen's for a chicken casserole followed by cheese and biscuits with ice cream for Diana,

then to the serious stuff, Monopoly,

I take a chance,

but Nick has all of the luck, with three hotels and three houses, it looked pretty bad for the rest of us,

and we were right, all too soon Nick had swept all before him, a double whammy beaten at fishing and Monopoly! we still had a great time however and many thanks to Nick and Maureen for making our day so enjoyable, then home to 388,

where we again joined Michael Palin in his travels in Full Circle, part of his 15,000 miles through 18 countries around the Pacific rim tonight featured Russia, Japan, South Korea (they were not allowed to travel very far in North Korea), China, Vietnam, Philippines and Malaysia, great insights to many of the local people and places, but to be fair I would have preferred to have spent a little more time at each stop, it seemed like no sooner had you arrived than it was off again to catch a boat/train/jeepney/bus, but still very enjoyable, many times both Diana and myself were laughing at some of his dry comments, but after a couple of hours it was late so for us off to bed.
