I never think of visiting a rubbish dump,
but I might change my mind if I was in beautiful Mendocino County, located just north of San Francisco is Fort Bragg, there the famous Glass Beach, back in the 1940s locals did not consider the environmental impact of their waste, they used the oceanfront dump to rid themselves of all manner of trash, ranging from general household garbage to used cars, it wasn’t until the late 1960s that California realised how much damage was being done by unregulated dumping so near to the ocean, so a new dumping ground was found away from the ocean, however at the time a lot of the waste was household, so glass bottles were a large part of the mix,
fast forward to now, years of wind and tides have worked the rubbish up and down the shoreline, the result is Glass Beach, made up of millions of rounded glass pebbles, the beach has been cleaned up since becoming part of a National Park, rusty remnants of automobiles have been removed, leaving only those beautifully smoothed globes of glass (which you are no longer allowed to take home, by the way) as a testament to the dump that once was located here, so maybe a trip to the ex city dump could be a nice way to spend the day.
It's remarkable for me to have a site, which is valuable for my knowledge.
