a collector who amassed over 4,000 trains over his lifetime died leaving his family to sell his collection, Adrian Rathbone, fine arts manager at Richard Winterton Auctioneers Ltd, who are organising the sale, said: 'there’s literally thousands and thousands of locomotives - it’s a trainspotter’s dream come true, and there’s thousands and thousands of photos he has taken of locomotives being sold, they’re from all over the country and from different stations, it’s one of the biggest collections we’ve had, it was quite daunting at first but we know how to arrange it to sell',


the guide price put forward by the article is £10,000, which is ridiculously low if there are 4,000 trains, hopefully the collection will realise more, the sale is at Richard Winterton’s Collectors’ Sale at The Lichfield Auction Centre, Staffordshire, on Thursday June 28, happy training!
