We Had Not Been Over To The Coral Island For Some Time,

so up early and away we went,

it did not look too promising, there was quite a wind blowing,

with some low cloud moving in,

looking towards land it did not seem much better,

but as we were now here we were on our way, past one of the floating restaurants,

 clouds low over the city,

I often wonder if hanging from a wet rope in the sky is a good idea with a thunderstorm threatening?

there were a few white horses on the sea and we had not really left the harbour yet,

even the speedboats were having a hard time, going quite slowly as they were bouncing all over the place,

but we made it at last, many a bit wet as spray from the boat occasionally soaked a few people sitting on the windward side of the boat,

even on the sheltered side of the jetty on the island there was quite a swell,

not a soul on this small beach,

the main beach looked quiet as well,

still great fun walking along the floating walkways, many kids doing so tried to keep their balance as the floats rose and fell with the swell,

we made our way along the jetty,

normally the waves on this beach are small but not today,

from a distance the beach suddenly looked crowded,

but it was a group tour waiting for their speedboat to go to another beach,

in reality there were few people here,

still it meant no queues at the food stalls,

 and plenty to chose from,

the boardwalk normally full now with hardly a soul,

Diana has seen some thing!

we settled down for a bite to eat,

as it is the low season chair hire is down to 50 baht each, in the high season it is 100 baht,

one of the tour groups arrived with these,

battery operated water scooters I suppose you would call them, they pull you through the water so there is no need to swim,

 the food arrives, bar-b-qued prawns,

fresh coconut for Diana, yesterday in the country 4 baht each, today on the island 40 baht,

naturally I had to have a beer to wash the food down,

we also had some chicken fried rice,

then it was time for an after dinner read,

so that called for another beer,

for a few hours the skies cleared, it got quiet hot, then about 4.00 in the afternoon the clouds came back,

 it was not looking good,

next to us every one had left,

so we decided to make a move as well,

as we made a move the umbrellas were down as no one was left on the beach,

and then it started to rain,

we caught the next ferry as the weather worsened,

spray was coming over the side of the boat, plus the wind was making everyone wet as it was raining hard, it was just like being in the channel in the UK!

but we made it back with out a problem,

as we went past the new marina to be, the waves were quite high as compared to usual,

by now the rain had just about stopped,

but for some one day did not go quiet so well,

still at least when it went down,

the surviviours did not have far to swim! although a bit wet it was still a great day out, the ferry is still just 30 baht each way to the islsnd, which for the 1 hour crossing seems fair, but we must look at the weather forecast next time,

in the evening after a warm shower and cup of tea we watched this weeks new additions of Kings of Restoration, Pickers and Pawn Stars amongst others, last thing it was Waking the Dead, Substitute, a chance meeting by Eve with Ukrainian aid worker Stefan, is this the beginning of a romance? but is he all he claims to be? with the end of this episode we were off to bed.
