Today We were Off Fishing,

with Nick, Maureen and Ta-Taa,

to the Mamak Fishing Park, it is off of Soi Nub Plan Wan, (spelt as it sounds), turn into the soi from Sukhumvit, over the railway crossing and continue for a couple of miles, the road starts to go downhill, near the bottom of it you will see a pink building on the left, the road the fishing park is in is almost opposite, follow that for a while and the fishing park is on the left,

it has huts around the edge of the lake,

 which is a nice size,

I should have used one of these, a umbrella, but more of that later,

the reception area, tackle and bait are available here if you do not have any,

inside the reception area there is a pool,

 containing some fish,

and a frog that either does not taste very nice,

or has a charmed life, the fish in question are alligator gars, (Atractosteus spatula) which do have frogs on their menu,

in any event one lucky frog,

on to the fishing, first mix up some bait,

quick as a flash Nick is into one,

which is handy as Diana had not yet eaten breakfast, so the first one will be cooked as soon as it goes to the kitchen, but it was not to be, it made good it's escape,

then it was my turn to hook one,

 and luckily landed it,

so a hungry, happy Diana took it to the reception area to have it cooked,

meanwhile Nick was concentrating hard on the next catch,

whilst Ta-Taa waited for the fish to be cooked,

then I was in to another one,

 one to take home,

 our meal arrived,

 cooked in garlic,

Nick did the honours of removing the meat from the bones,

in the time it took him to do that I had another one in the bag,

so now we had two to take home,

then three, but this one we put back,

for some reason the fish were biting all day,

so I spent a lot of time in the sun,

Nick helped me in with another one,

it was strange, we were both using the same bait and very similar rods and tackle, but the score ended up at 7-0 to me,

it was so hot Diana cooled a face towel in water and I wore it under my hat, much to every ones amusement,

 the fishing parks card,

and map, the cost of the day with us having one fish cooked and taking two home, four beers, two coffees and a couple of waters was just under 1,200 baht, what a great way to spend a day,

we arrived back at Nick & Maureen's and chilled out with a beer watching the moon by their pool,

Maureen had very kindly cooked us all a roast meal, followed by ice cream for Diana cheese and biscuits for myself,

we then got down to the serious stuff, Monopoly, which I won, what a day a double win, some else said that he was going to win the double today but things just did not work out that way, you may remember that I mentioned I should have used an umbrella at the beginning of the post? well if you look closely at my hand holding the money the top of it is a bright sun burnt red, as were both of my arms, all of this time living out here and I still get sun burnt!

but back to the evening we both said a huge thank you to Nick & Maureen for looking after us so well, after our farewells we made a move home, watched some satellite television then for us we were off to bed.
