At First Glance,

there does not seem to be much to this picture,

an elderly man who appears to be relaxing,

under an umbrella inside with perhaps his wife,

but look again, what you were looking at was a huge work by hyperrealist sculptor Ron Mueck who works in the realm of the ultra-real where he spends hundreds of hours perfecting the shape of the human form, the appropriate colour of skin, and the most realistic hair texture, Mueck sculpts in clay, makes a plaster mould around it and finally replaces the clay with a mixture of fibreglass, silicone and resin, his next public show will be at the Fondation Cartier pour l’art contemporain from 16 April to 29 September 2013, I have to say the first two pictures had me fooled I thought it was a real life, real size couple of people.
