MERRY CHRISTMAS!

to everyone,


 we are going straight to today's post, for two reasons, firstly we will be going out shortly, secondly there has already been a power cut today so we want to finish the post before there is another one, so first thing we were gold shopping, well it is Christmas,

 naturally we had to have a look around two or three shops,
 before making the final decision, then home and feet up, we had planned on staying in for Christmas Eve as we are out for Christmas Day,

 but then we decided to put our glad rags on and pop over to Cherry's,

 it is on Third Road opposite the site that was once the X-Cite disco,

 we took a bit of a chance, but got our usual table,

 with the Christmas tree and a regular customer just behind me,

 Diana got into the Christmas spirit with a mai-tai,

 I settled on the medicinal red wine, we started with an amuse bouche,

then a selection of starters,

  followed by a duo terrine of veal and goose liver with pineapple chutney and macro greens,

 we had decided on the set Christmas menu,

 naturally we had a break between each course, the next one being cream of wild mushroom and truffle soup,


 still on the starters the fish dish was next,

pan-roasted snow fish on a green pea puree with baby carrots in a red wine sauce, well that one got my vote!

 a raspberry sorbet with kirsch,

   helped clear the palette,

 then our main courses arrived, 


Diana chose the roasted herb crust of veal mignon, with cepe fricassee and sage sauce served with white and green asparagus and a yam puree,

 I was a little more traditional choosing roast turkey with liver-raisin stuffing, cranberry sauce, brussles sprouts, chestnuts and croquette potatoes,

 all of which was as you might expect delicious, the problem was we were so full we decided not to ask for the dessert although it was included,

 so we sat there chatting away, when all of a sudden the desserts arrived,

it looked too good not to eat, so we did! it was a chocolate souffle with vanilla ice cream, passion fruit sauce with marinated fresh strawberry's, also on the menu there was a choice of tea or coffee and Christmas cookies, but we just could not eat another thing, the meal was 1,095 baht each which considering the different foods and flavors we both thought was very fair, the service as usual was first class, but it seemed a shame that so few dinners were here when the chef had obviously made such an effort,then back home in the baht bus, the diet starts in a few days time! next feet up and a bit of television, we still have more than a few Cheers to watch so then having seen a few more episodes we were off to bed.
