not that I need a new one,
Diana bought me a lovely watch as a birthday present many years ago, but if I was in the market for a new watch this one would be at the top of my list, minimal in design but shows everything you need to know, it is the Metro Datum Gangreserve, designed by Berlin-based Mark Braun, the German brand shows something that takes the definition of "in-house" to the next level: a true, in-house escapement, just so you know, manufactures have the know-how or the technological capabilities to create escapements in-house, with even many revered manufactures bringing them in from one of a handful of creators, but today there is the Nomos Metro, the first watch to exclusively utilise the new Swing System escapement made in house in Glashütte,
as the supply chain tightens up, cutting off access to components and ebauche movements, (unless you want mass prouduced movemants from the Far East), it's getting harder and harder for small independent brands to compete in the marketplace, prices are high, quantities are limited, and the customer ends up paying a lot of money for relatively modest base components to creative an end product, Nomos wanted to free itself from these shackles and invested 12 million Euros in the development of the Swing System, its own in house-made escapement over the course of a seven-year collaboration with a technical university, so for a relatively small company it is now making it's own ebauche movements and stepping up to the plate with the big boys, OK enough of all this here is the answer to the question everyone is asking, yours for £2,111, ($3,536).
