I Am Sure Most Of Us Have Heard Of The Term Storm Chaser,

but how about snow flake chaser?

that is the title given to one of the authors of a book called,

The Snowflake: Winter's Frozen Artistry, it is by Kenneth Libbrecht and Rachel Wing,

Wing is a park ranger in Monrovia, California, and works with Libbrecht as a snowflake chaser, and Libbrecht is a physics professor at Caltech, where he studies ice crystal growth, so with winter nearly here now is the time to start hunting for the perfect snowflake, the first thing to know is how they're made, and in the book, Libbrecht and Wing include a handy guide,
taken from the book the above morphology diagram plots the main geometries based on temperature and humidity, so you will know what to look for depending upon your location, and no I am not on commission!
