We Occasionally Use GIFs,

or to give them their full title,

the Graphics Interchange Format, but now I have found out there is another type of moving artwork called a cinemagraph, the site I found these examples on states,

'a cinemagraph is a living moment in an otherwise still photograph. It exists in the world in between a photograph and video to bring to life the image and make it last forever',

it appears that Kevin Burg and Jamie Beck created the first cinemagraph in 2011 and since then have travelled the world creating work that has been seen by millions of people, they both live and work in New York City, and have their own studio named Ann Street Studio.
