'I Name This Ship',

in the parlance of modern day ship naming,

the ship, in this case the UK’s Natural Environment Research Council's new polar explorer which is ready to carry 90 scientists and staff to the Arctic and the Antarctic for research expeditions, would be named after a famous creature or scientist/explorer, NERC appears to be trying to encourage names like Falcon, Titan, Orca, Shackleton, Endeavour, or David Attenborough, but wanting public awareness and input they decided to open the naming option and decided to name the boat by an open internet poll, what could possibly go wrong? so far these are the frontrunners,

RRS Usain Boat
RRS Ice Ice Baby
RRS Boat Marley and the Whalers
RRS I Like Big Boats & I Cannot Lie
RRS Pee-Eee Cee Tee
RRS Motörboat
RRS Feed
RRS Icey Smashy-Smash
RRS Thanks for All the Fish

but way out in the lead is RRS Boaty McBoatface, so what will the new name be? at the moment the link to the voting website is a bit overwhelmed, so the link may or may not work,

Latest Update:

The Natural Research Council posted a clarification on Sunday saying the final decision will be made by a panel, not the votes, oh I see it now, have a public vote then if you do not like the result change the rules, so I guess it is goodbye to Boaty McBoatface.
