When I Think Of A Kimono,

I never equate the formal Japanese dress with fashion,

I always thought that the designs stayed pretty much the same, but that could soon be about to change,

if Yoshihide Hirayama has his way, His parents both worked as artisans in the kimono-making process, but he had no interest in the making of them until he saw his mother cutting out old patterns to make new ones,

with his enthusiasm fired up he experimented and ultimately formed his company, Modern Antenna

by drawing on his parent's craft he has now put on an exhibition in NYC titled Kyoto Kool, they’re on view to the public at GlobusWashitsu through March 14, 2016. Gallery hours are noon – 6pm (FB invite), (Note: gallery is located in a residential building. After being buzzed in, proceed to the 8th floor by elevator. Visitors will be asked to remove their shoes prior to entering), also he has designed a range for men to wear as well, I wonder how the traditionalists will review his work?
