Those Were The Days,

when the circus came to town,

with coconut shy's, guns that shot real bullets that you could break mini glass bottles with, the chance to win a goldfish in a bowl, with a consolation prize of a huge ball of candy floss on a stick or a toffee apple if you did not win,

alas those days are gone forever, even more so now as,

after 146 years, the curtain is coming down on "The Greatest Show on Earth." the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus will close forever in May,

declining ticket sales, rising operating costs, and changes in audience taste have all made the show too expensive to run, audiences decided that carting wild animals from town to town for live performances is not right, clowns are scary, and I guess it could not compete with television, DVDs and computer games, it seems such a shame that so many will no longer see the sideshows that accompanied The Greatest Show On Earth or the show itself.
