one of many truly strange creatures,
that was filmed on the ongoing 2017 American Samoa Expedition, the National Oceanic and
Atmospheric Administration’s Okeanos Explorer spotted this beautiful jelly at
Utu Seamount in the National Marine Sanctuary of American Samoa, NOAA, the
footage was taken with a Remote Controlled Vehicle (ROV), NOAA zoologist Allen
Collins tells us that it is a deep sea species known as Rhopalonematid trachymedusa, I think Cosmic is better but there it is,
the researchers are conducting one of the first extensive
explorations of the 13,581-square-mile marine sanctuary, which contains
hydrothermal vents, deepwater coral reefs and some of the oldest and largest
coral formations in the world,
also filmed on this trip the amazing Venus fly trap anemone, (Actinoscyphia
