in the show a team of experts looks around your house for items to sell that you may not know are valuable, in the USA a similar story appeared when in 1925, the Saturday Evening Post ran an article titled “Have You A Tamerlane in Your Attic”? after the article ran, a woman in Worcester, Massachusetts named Ada S. Dodd searched and found a copy, so what is a Tamerlane? it is an epic poem by Edgar Allan Poe which follows a fictionalised accounting of the life of a Turkic conqueror historically known as Tamerlane, the poem was first published in the 1827 collection Tamerlane and Other Poems, but here is the thing Poe's name does not appear on the cover and also it is thought that only 50 were printed, so is it worth having a look to see if there is a copy in the attic? you bet! in December 2009 "Tamerlane and Other Poems" sold for $662,500 at Christie's auction house, if only we had an attic to look in!
