it was glad rags on,
we were going out for a meal with Barry,
I even got into the picture,
we were going to Au Bon Coin, the address is 352/104, phone: +66 38 364 542,
it is not the easiest place to find as it is in one of the roads on Pratumnak Hill that goes between Soi 5 and Soi 6,
as you enter the restaurant you pass the kitchen, no microwaves, here, everything is cooked as ordered, so there is always a wait for courses, which is fine by us as we always take a long time over our meals,
Barry had reserved a nice corner table for us,
the decor looking very provincial and cosy,
firstly an amuse bouche,
then our starters, mussels for Diana,
a soup for Barry that came with all manner of dishes to add to it,
and an avocado prawn for myself,
'Cheers!',
we had a long break as our main course was being prepared, either side of us,
there were items of Thai culture adding to the atmosphere of the restaurant,
our main courses then arrived,
a huge beef kebab for Diana,
three steaks for Barry,
and a real delight for me,
my favourite fish, smoked haddock, I had a chat with the owner/chef, Jose whose name is pronounced Hozay, he imports the Haddock from Europe, so it is not readily available over here, I just wish that it was, the fish was full of flavour, it was so nice, a real treat, I should mention the portions of the fish were huge and served on a ring of asparagus filled with mashed potato,
we decided against desserts, but we were given a complimentary dessert of rum babas, which rounded the meal off nicely, the meal for the three of us including 2 carafes of wine came to just over 4,000 baht and for the flavours and quality of the food was worth every baht of it! Barry kindly dropped us off home where we thanked him and said our farewells, then feet up for a nightcap or three, two from Suits and we were off to bed.
