Back In School Days,

after school, we would sometimes go bowling,

and have in fact shown how poor I am at it over here, so I was interested when I read about German photographer Robert Götzfried, who took some almost surreal pictures of them,

on his quest photographing the design of bowling alleys and “Kegelbahnen” across Southern Germany, most of which exist from the ’60s, ’70s, and ’80s,

Kegeln is a German sport similar to bowling, however with smaller balls, only nine pins, and shortened lanes,

the sport has fallen from popularity, and many of the photographed lanes’ quality has diminished with the times,

this more like the bowling alleys I remember,

it seems strange to think that at times the sport was banned, evidently people were having way too much fun!

You can see a larger selection of Götzfried’s photographic projects on Instagram, and Behance, bowling alleys, I never would have thought of making them a subject of a photo collection.
