We Again Are Only Making One Post This Morning,

as it is a big one,

05.55 and we were on our way, through the new tunnel,

 and off to Bangkok,

 we passed many familial buildings,

 on the way,

 in Bangkok over the tracks,

not the place to be stuck in traffic!

we had to drop some papers off,

and as we were early we had breakfast here in the office block,

 then back in the taxi,

 as we speed our way,

to the Chatuchak market, although it is a a weekend market the livestock section opens every day, but a few traders do take Monday as their day off,

when we start to see signs of this huge construction site,

we know we are getting close to the market,

the works are a part of the Mass Rapid Transit Master Plan in Bangkok Metropolitan Regionthis is first Phase from Bang Sue to Rangsit,

 the project is huge,

and expected to be completed in 2019/2020,

and when finished this is what it should look like,

we arrived at the market and parked in J J Mart,

looking down from the car park, just off centre,

 one of the markets shrines,

as we were in J J Mart we just had to have an ice cream,

we walked out of the store and new shop has opened since our last visit,

specialising in Siamese fighting fish, (Betta Splendens),

if you want a new aquarium, this is the place to go to, just make sure you can carry it to the car and it fits in the boot!

we bought a long air-stone, one of the ones we have under a rock produces big bubbles, so we wanted to try to make a long line of smaller bubbles, 60 baht later and we were on our way,

 into the main fish section,

another new shop, this one selling paludariums

we made our way to where on the last time we were there was the wholesale Thursday fish market, for the rest of the week it is a car park,

but there were still a few permanent stalls here selling fish,

and there were a couple that we liked,

this stall specialising in koi carp,

 another goldfish stall,

I thought these small pieces of wood looked nice,

 as did this planted aquarium,

 and these mini ones,

to me they looked, just so nice,

 as did these beauties,

the rarest and most difficult to keep and breed of the freshwater anglefish, the Altum anglefish, (Pterophyllum altum),

we then came to the discus section, (Symphysodon aequifasciatus),

and found these stunners,

and their offspring, yours for 100 baht each, (at today's rate £2.30 or $3.00),

 next coloured crayfish,

this display looking like a see through sky scraper,

we had a final look at another store selling goldfish,

then made our way to the dry goods section, this shop selling huge double sided aquariums, this one 8 foot long, whilst in this section we saw a UV for sale, exactly the one we wanted,

a Jebo 18 watt unit, you may remember in our local store it was 2,800 baht, here exactly 1,000 baht, so we bought it, take that saving away from the cost of the taxi and it makes the trip very worth while, plus a great day out,

as we were walking Diana spotted a stall selling something she liked,

we passed the shrine we pictured when we first arrived from above,

we decided to look around the furnishings section as it was near the pet section, so much to look at,

but I was really taken with these reproduction Victorian domes in what appeared to be a taxidermy store,

the shop is called Valkyrie Gate Exotic Collection

and in case you were wondering how much the dome costs this is from their Facebook page, for a full look at what they have on offer have a look at the pages here

what a neat and really unusual shop,

 by now we were thirsty,

 so an ice coffee,

 then past the shrine,

and home, where I put our new acquisitions into their new home,

next a shower and a change and we were off, to Walking Street, we made our way to Soi Diamond,

a small Soi that runs along side the Diamond Beach Hotel,

 past the revolving bars,

and onto a very quiet Walking Street, well it was still early,

and this is what we were here for, Loy Krathong,

we made our way towards Beach Road,

passing some of the seafood restaurants on our way, this one,

with it's huge lobster on top looked really impressive,

the stone man had been decorated,

and just past him a small pool had been made,

where Diana floated one of the Krathongs,

 so we bought one there,

 and nice it was too,

 next stop the beach,

where there were the majority of krathong sellers,

 lots of tables of them,

and so many to choose from,

candles lit,

 shoes off,

 and into the water,

launched, where it turned turtle and came back again,

 so candles re-lit,

 and off again,

 success!

 the beach was very quiet,

but it was still only just 7.00 in the evening,

I took a couple of photographs,

 of the floating restaurants,

and we made our way back along the street where I noticed this beauty, a 1200 cc Triumph Thruxton R, what a fabulous looking motorcycle and yes I want one!

we continued our way back along a still quiet Walking Street,

I just love the neon signs,

arriving home it was time of a beef stew, then feet up for this evenings edition of The Chase,

followed by Young Guns II, which was a real treat to watch, to round the evening off a couple more from Dickensian, and with that we were off to bed.
