Day 41,

we awoke to a beautify day,


 blue sea,

 blue skies,

 Diana just had to get the double camera setup out,

 to take a few pictures,

 and here comes our boat,

 we are having a day at sea,

 looking down the sea looked calm

 no crashing waves on the shoreline,

 we made our way past the rooms boat, 

 and upstairs,

 to the top road,

 and into the car park,

 and by the church wait for our car,

to take us to the harbour,

 I had to take a picture of this boat,

 as it was a Kingfisher,

 this is a working part of the harbour,

 with fishing boats,

 of all descriptions here,

 good job I did not bring my fishing rods then!

 we prepared to board,

 the boat was a catamaran,

 we were one of a number of boats to set off,

 shoes off,
 and we were under way,

 the boat was spotless,

 and had a neatly laid out galley,

 plenty of sitting and eating space indoors,

 and bedrooms in both pontoons,

 Diana was loving it,

 at the helm the Captain,

 we soon left the harbour,

 behind us,

 as we cruised along the shoreline,

 the famous red cliffs,

 on Santorinis Red Beach,

 the colour is caused by the iron rich rocks that form it,

 one more for the album,

 we continued sailing,

 a nice villa by the sea,

 all along the coast,

 there are strange and different rock formations,

 like this one,

 or this one called 'The Iceberg',

 soon preparations for lunch began,

 but for us it was just sit back and enjoy the view, this is black rock,

 with this building,

 perched on top,

 a little further along,

 the lighthouse,

 we sailed past a few more villages,

 with their blue domed roofs,

looking at the strata there is evidence of cataclysmic eruptions and movements of rock, a geologists dream, or nightmare, depending which side of a PhD you are sitting,

 and as if to bring home the forces at work,

 we anchor at the hot springs,

 they occur at the end of a cove,

 we both declined a dip in the sea,

 there is a small church in the cove,

 and a few fishing vessels,

 it is then time for the captain to change hats, and become the chef,

 paths zig-zaging,

 to the village at the top,

 I think Diana is hungry,

 not long now,

 one of the other boats in the flotilla anchors up,

 food is served,

 and what a feast,

 and nothing goes to waste, what the fish do not eat,

 the birds do,

 the water here is so clear, we could clearly see every detail on the seafloor 6 meters below us,

 it was then time to untie us from the permanent mooring, 

 and start to head back,

  so my turn for a picture,

 or two,

 on our way back we had some fresh fruit prepared for us,

 the sun was going down as we arrived back at harbour,

 what a fabulous day we had,

next stop for us,

the Kokkalo restaurant,

for our evening meal,

we had not booked,

but were lucky getting a table,

a glass of house red,


after our starters Diana went for the smoked pork steak served with fresh country fries and a home-made mustard sauce,

I decided on roasted pork shank with crispy crust served with fresh country fries, plus two home-made mustard sauce and a spicy sauce,

arriving home, 

what better way to round off the evening than with a bottle of bubbly? and with that we were off to bed.
