it looks at Japan’s landscape of textile traditions, from Kyo-yuzen and Echigo-jofu to Oshima-tsumugi and Benibana-zome, techniques and their corresponding geographies are the subject of the exhibition, all photographs by Kotaro Tanaka,

us through the story is Masataka Hosoo, the 13th generation head of the Hosoo kimono
house that has been
family-owned since 1688, Hosoo spent 3 years traveling around Japan and taking
stock of the current landscape, from over 5000 photographs taken on his
journey, he selected few to be included in this
exhibition, which is being
hosted by Mikimoto in Ginza,
the Story of Japanese Textiles is free and on view through
January 27, 2019 at Mikimoto
headquarters on the 7th floor, so if you are interested in textiles or photography, not one to miss.
