Most Artist,

start with white or cream paper or canvas,

but not so WanJin Gim, above “Potter’s Hand No. 1” (2019),

often uses kraft paper, “2 Cycles” (2018),

“Phenomenon No.2”, detail (2018),

Gim uses cross hatching—a technique most commonly associated with ink drawings or prints—with an array of colors to capture hands, arms, feet, and the occasional cat,  “A Pure Hand” (2018),

You can see more of the Seoul-based artist’s work on Instagram, “Potter’s Hand No. 2” (2019),

, “A Patient Cat” (2018) and find prints of his drawings on Gim’s online store, I wonder if the drawings would look so good on white paper, or does the unbleached kraft paper give the drawings a little something extra?
