Diana Did Not Have To Go To Work,

until late in the afternoon,

 so we spent the day pottering around the flat, after Diana left it was time for my evening meal, and to start a new book, so first a sherry,

 followed by a glass or three of red wine, 

and my meal for tonight? a slice of pumpernickel bread, topped with tuna, cucumber and tomatoes which then had a frozen lemon grated over the top of it, an apple for dessert, then time to listen to music and read, and my book for the evening,

Lanark by Alasdair Gray, 

as the back cover says, 'A Life In 4 Books', so I started with book 3, which is the first of the 4 books, 4 chapters in and I was quite enjoying the read, it was widely praised in the UK, and even received a good write up in the New York Times, the reviewer, John Crowley, finishes the review with this statement, 'it should be given every chance to reach those readers - for there will surely be some, and not all of them Scots - to whom it will be, for a short time or a lifetime, the one book they would not do without' praise indeed, towards midnight Diana arrived home, we watched a little cable television, then for us we were off to bed.
