We Started Our Drive On The 13th

to Lands End early,

having said that,

we did stop on the way,

for a bite to eat, a cheese and ham panini for Diana,

a sausage roll for myself,

with ice cream and coffee,

so far it was a glorious day,

nearly there!

and here we are in the car park of the Lands End Hotel,

and nice it looked too,

our bedroom for the next few nights,

so cold gear on,

and we were out,

walking along the coast,

as it happened it was alarmingly windy,

with huge waves crashing on the rugged coastline,

Diana had bought a new extra warm jacket,

and she needed it! lucky we still had our cold weather clothes from our trip to Finland,

so a quick pose,
and we continued our walk,

we were going to the building in the distance,

looking back,

the swells crashing into the rocks,

and shoreline,

not the place to go swimming!

well certainly not today,

it really was blowing a gale,

which as it happens,

was a bit of a worry,

as shortly we will be flying to the Scilly Isles,

or not if the wind does not drop,

the good news fairly clear skies,

we continued our walk,

along the coast path,

all of the area along here is a haven for birdwatchers, or twitchers as they are known,

unfortunately because of the high winds, the sea was whipped into a mist,

making some of the photographs,

more than a little hazy,

not to mention the number of times I had to clear the salt spray off of the lens,

but it was great fun and rather exciting watching the waves,

as they hit land,

well the rocks,

the car did not miss a beat, we started out with a full tank of diesel, and still had plenty left,

we were so happy to be inside out of the wind,

and in the hotels bar

we decided on an afternoon cream tea,

with real Cornish cream,

feed and refreshed, we were out again,

walking in the opposite direction,

taking photographs as we went,

I had the double camera set-up, one taking normal photographs, the other the same scene but in infrared,

it was so windy Diana was trying to fly!

meanwhile I had to stop the wind literally blowing over the tripod, yes it was that windy,

a quick selfie,

looking back along the pathway, this section tarmacked,

the hotel in the distance,

the sign says it all,

a quick pose,

new for us, a black letterbox,

the legend above it,

we walked back to the main car park behind the hotel,

as you drive in from the road, there is a Lands End attraction,

most of it closed as it is the low season, by now we were both hungry,

so into the hotels restaurant for our evening meal,

'Cheers!',

for Diana,

a huge plate of mussels with chips,

for myself scampi and chips,

followed by a very nice large Kraken,

as well as formal seating there was a choice of a more laid back dining area,

we choose the lounge for our nightcap, which after the cliff top walk was a nice way to relax, and with that we were off to bed.
