It Was Diana's Day Off,

so pick your own gear on,

and we were off,

not for PYO strawberries, but cherries, a first for myself and Diana,

we were at Chegworth Valley, PYO cherry farm, Lower Road, West Farleigh, ME15 0PF, it is just outside of Maidstone, telephone 01622 859272,

blue skies and row after row of cherry's,

 just waiting for Diana,

 to start eating,

 I mean picking them!

 I had a go too,

and here are some I picked earlier,

the trees were loaded down with them,

 everywhere you looked,

 a quick pose,

 or two,

 then back to the picking,

if ever there was a case of the owner of the trees weighing people before and after,

 this was it!

 in no time,

we had half filled our basket,

and nice they tasted, I mean they looked too,

to be fair many of them had split skins, we were told because of wind and rain,

but they still tasted so sweet,

if you see one of these keep well clear, every so often it makes a bang like a 12 gauge going off, it keeps the birds away,

 but not us!

 Diana was in her element,

 so many to chose from,

 and this is our selection,

a last look at the rows of cherry trees,

and it was time to pay our bill, along with a punnet of blackberries and one of strawberries the cost came to £12.44, the gentleman at the stall said that one more week and they would be finished, not that they were all picked, but they would be past their best, note already in our dairy for next year!

our next stop the Cavendish Cafe for our lunch,

 everything was a OK!

as I had just ordered a cheese and ham panini for Diana, and a prawn sandwich for myself,

and two afternoon cream teas, delicious, the cost was £20.50, The Cavendish Café is at 8 Cavendish Way, Bearsted, Maidstone ME15 8PW. telephone 01622 737114, next for us, off home to Beckenham, what a lovely day out,

Diana had made a video of our day, and here it is,

for our evening meal Diana had made a ham salad, many thanks to Steve and Kai for the salad,

followed by a Eton mess, with fresh blackberries and strawberries from the cherry farm, also during our crime evening we munched on the cherries, I say a crime evening because we watched 3 two hour long episodes each of Endeavour, New Tricks and Silent Witness, by now it was well past midnight, so for us we were off to bed.
