I often see then feeding in murky soda lakes,
but here for the first time I can see them feeding in clear water, thanks to the San Diego Zoo, they
plunge their heads underwater to suck up mud and other debris from the sandy
bottom, filter-like plates called lamella trap shrimp and other aquatic
creatures before dispersing the rest through the sides of their bills,
and they are not quiet eaters! if you watch the video you can hear the noise they make, fascinating.
