Thursday,

was Diana's day off this week,

so glad rags on,

and we were out through the park,

and on the top deck of a number 54 bus,

masks on,

Ah! a selfie,

we were soon speeding past Peter Pan's pool,

and heading towards,

Catford, with the big cat sign,

we have passed this building many times,

bearing in mind I also used to pass it back in the 1960s, it was then and still is now undergoing repairs!

next place of note,

Lewisham open air market,

we were soon in Blackheath walking past one of Diana's favourite shops, Oliver Bonas,

we also went past this fruit and vegetable store and guess what?

they had chestnuts!

lots of them,

just over a kilo later,

we made our uphill towards the heath,

pity O'Neil's was closed, I was quite thirsty,

so a coffee each it was then,

now past one of my favourite shops,

a bookshop that sells real books,

the outside of this shop really stood out,

it was an art gallery,

and happily a seat was opposite for us to drink our coffee,

having said that we change seats after a quick photograph of the church,

and Diana took a selfie,

it was a bit muddy underfoot,

Christmas cheer on the coffee mugs,

this is better,

coffee finished and we were on our way,

past the local school playing football, no social distancing here!

we arrived in the park, the gatehouse having some repairs performed on it,

it does not look it,

but the place was packed with cars and people,

but we were lucky that we managed to not get many people in the photographs,

well I had to have a pose too!

one more from Diana,

the yellows and browns contrasting against a nice blue sky,

time for a pose,

or two,

in all of the years we, and I back since the 1950s have visited here we have never been into the Greenwich gardens,

something we will put right on our next visit here,

we did not walk down the main though fare, but took the road that runs to the east,

then dogged legged back past the bandstand,

where there trees run parallel to the road,

next turn right to the end of the road,

where you can look over the Queens House, the Maritime Museum and Canary Wharf,

time for a pose,

and the view,

and one from me!

well two,

in the distance what was the power station and O2,

across the river Canary Warf,

with the exception of the clock above the Houses of Parliament, I am guessing this is the most photograph public clock in the UK,

luckily we are going downhill,

looking to the east,

at the bottom of the hill we walked towards the Cutty Sark,

I told Diana not to park the car there!

we made our way past the ship,

on the right of it in the museum grounds a ancient cannon,

the bow of the ship, with the dome of the pedestrian walkway under the River Thames in the background,

a brief look back at the ship,

before we continued our walk along the embankment,

a stop and a look,

across the Thames to the domed other end of the foot tunnel,

one from myself,

it was a glorious day, as we looked upstream,

and downstream,

we continued walking towards the coal jetty and power station,

but stopped when we arrived here,

the man himself, Lord Nelson,

'Cheers!',

but wait a second, pubs are closed during the lockdown, as you can not go into a pub and drink, where did the pint come from?

the pub had a cunning plan, under the terms of the lockdown if you sell food as a take away you can also sell drinks, but, and it is a big but, you have to pre order your drinks by SMS or email, so outside of the pub there is a board with the SMS details, we ordered our drinks they were brought outside, where we paid with a tap of our credit card,

'Cheers!',

there is always a way around having a drink, trying to ban it was always doomed to failure, think American prohibition,

the pint was so nice Diana bought me another one!

we wandered away slightly from the pub, whilst they sell food and drink to take away there are no chairs to sit on,

so around the corner to sit on the footings of a wall for Diana to eat her nachos,

next,

a play in the leaves,

that Diana likes so much,

we made a move for the bus stop, on the way spotting this very patriotic car,

on the 180 bus,

heading towards Greenwich church,

and on our way to Lewisham,

this pub has great memories for myself, the Sydney Arms, after getting cleaned up having been 'banged out', this is where I had the end of my right of passage in the print industry drink up, my indenture papers were handed to me, and I was now a Journeyman,

as we entered Lewisham I remarked to Diana,

that this was the bridge I walked under to go to and from the print factory everyday until I bought a motorcycle,

the bus stops here, off of the 180,

across the road,

the sign at the back says it all,

we only had a few minuets wait for the 54 bus,

and soon we were in the park heading home,

hardly any leaves on the trees now,

after our evening meal we watched a couple of Lewis and a New Tricks, nibbling at some of the huge delicious, chestnuts we had bought earlier, I am only making one post today as it took a bit of time, and with that we were off to bed.
