we were walking past the Marks & Spencer's lorry,
to the night bus stop, Diana safely onboard and I was on my way home, during the day I caught up with a lot of telephone calls, Beckenham Steve, Rainham Steve, Duncan, Alan, my solicitor and financial adviser amongst others, Diana arrived home in the evening, so after a chat and a coffee or two,
it was feet up for the last 3 episodes of the 7 part series Queen's Gambit, all three were excellent, and the music soundtrack, superb, what a great series and many thanks to Mike for recommending it, it was so good it begs that question, is there going to be a second season of The Queen's Gambit? for a fuller answer have a look here, for myself I hope not, I much prefer this ending, rather than the show somehow become domesticated, with kids, husbands, (I doubt if there would be only one), putting the kids through school all that sort of stuff, but as the show was most of the most watched TV show of
2020 and has already receiving plenty of nominations this award season – including
two Screen
Actors Guild Awards and two Golden
Globes, there is a lot of pressure for a second series, so I guess we will have
to wait and see, as it was by now just before midnight we were then off to bed.

Alley and I have been watching more Amazon Prime and Netflix features over the past couple of years. We don't really the ongoing series but rather one of 3-6 shows then ends. Why? Because as you stated, they become a complicated, slow watching drama that never ends. After an hour of these, you ask why did you waste your time. We now avoid the series and focus on only mini series or movies. We are so much more at ease watching those. Another problem with the ongoing series is it reminds us of the USA daytime soap operas that have been on TV for the past 50 years. Always a crisis, always a relationship problem, always an affair and always nasty people. So nice to just settle into a great movie that has a finite ending!

Dear Mike, many thanks for the recommendation, we did in fact watch a episode but for some reason did not like it, having said that when Diana is home from work this evening I will try to remember to give it another try, best regards, Stan and Diana.
ReplyDeleteDear John and Alley, I know what you mean, we also tend to watch the first 4 or 5 of a series than not go back to it, in the UK we have so many soaps, Coronation Street, EastEnders, Emmerdale Farm, and so many more, I am happy to say I have never watched more than 3 or 4 minutes of any of them before changing channel, such mental pollution, but I guess they appeal to some, best regards, Stan and Diana.
