Over The Years I Have Occasionally Seen Houses Made Out Of Bottles,

but I never knew that at one stage,

brewers actually made their bottles brick shaped to be used to build a home, all images courtesy Heineken International, in 1963, Alfred Heineken created a bottle that could also function as a brick to build houses in impoverished countries. It was called the Heineken World Bottle (or WOBO),

Heineken actually produced 100,000 WOBOs in a test run (or enough to build roughly 100 small houses), and even constructed a whole home out of them near Freddy Heineken’s villa in Noordwijk, but the bottle never actually made it to market,

the bottle was designed by John Habraken, it looks really neat in the way that the neck fits into the base, I can imagine there may have been a number of intoxicated builders if they started to run out of bottle bricks! for the full story have a look here.
