We Left The Hot Houses Behind,

and made our way into the garden,

a panorama of the garden,

looking back towards the High Street,

a small number of blue flowers,

just starting to appear,

under this dawn redwood, (Metasequolia glypostrobides), native to China, this tree was planted in 1949, just a year before I was born!

under this tree,

more blue flowers coming through,

the sound of water,

always nice in a garden,

around the grounds,

lots of mature trees,

I can almost see students of the colleges eating their picnics under the shade of the trees in the summer,

again as in Kew hellebores putting on a good early show,

we continued towards the water lily pool,

reflections,

in the pool circular pots,

with the lilies in, and any day now starting to sprout,

past the pool,

one of the gardeners hard at work,

in the distance,

one of the trees,

with a hemiparasitic plant growing on it, mistletoe,

beside this part of a walled garden,

there was a huge daffodil bed,

with so many varieties growing in it,

many of these will be in flower in a few weeks,

we started to make our way to the exit,

what a wonderful way to spend a few hours in the afternoon,

out to the entrance,

and past the memorial,

and back into the High Street,

as we made our way to the coach stop,

a quick check on the times,

as it happens we had just missed one, but in 10 minutes or so,

we were on our way, but not without event, just outside of London a coach had broken down, blocking 3 of the 4 lanes, we arrived about 30 minutes later than we should have done,

welcome back to Victoria!

arriving home, after a coffee and settling in, Diana made a noodle snack for herself,

and a couple of bangers and mash for myself,

eyes down and tuck in, after out meal we just had time for a New Tricks before we were off to bed.

  2. Dear John and Alley, we did have a great time, some times when it is Diana day off we stay at home, but it is so nice when we go out together, the problem is that we are running out of seaside towns and places to visit that are within say 2 hours of where we live, longer than that and it seems we no sooner arrive than we have to return home as the attractions start to close around 4.00 in the afternoon, best regards, Stan and Diana.
