although it was raining I decided to pop into town.
it was a grey wet day,
I went to Sainsbury's knowing that Duncan was allowed a small amount of wine I bought him a bottle of his favourite triple, Liebfraumilch, a German white wine which I knew the store stocked,
back home through a very wet park,
did I tell you about the fairies at the bottom of the garden? they were there last night,
as they left a small fairy ring of mushrooms,
in the afternoon I watched a couple of films, firstly Mimic, a sci-fi creature feature, it was quiet good as it happens,
I followed that with At The Earth's Core, even back in the day, 1976, this was a laughable film, the only special effects, people dressed in rubber suits as the 'monsters' but full marks for a funny romp through lower Earth, as the film ended Diana arrived home,
so time for a sherry and a read,
tonight a real treat wagyu burgers with triple fried chips, what better for bonfire night?
Diana had decided on a spicy Thai dish, so eyes down and tuck in,
to round off our meal, a Layers of Joy winter trifle,
Diana serving the trifle,
which looked,
and was excellent,
in the far distance the fireworks at Beckenham Recreation ground had stated,
I took just a couple of not very good photographs of them, we did not go as last year it was so crowded I could not even get into the recreation ground as it was full, so a evening in for this Guy Fawkes night, after we listened to some music it was time for the evenings two films,
firstly Day Shift, which was so good, the first set 'fight' between Bud and a vampiress was unbelievable, as it happens contortionist vampires were hired performers from live shows like Cirque du Soleil. This was a way to not only show a different type of vampire, but provide jobs for performers who were out of work due to the Covid-19 pandemic, well worth watching if vampires are your scene,
we rounded the evening off with Enola Holmes 2, we had enjoyed the first and the second did not disappoint, the sets were just as I imagine old London town would be at the time, as a bonus the film was set against the true story of the Match Factory girls, an appalling episode of how workers were treated, we are both looking forward to a third film set around Enola Holmes, and with that we were off to bed.
