I Am Only Making One Post Today,

as, wait for it, I have to go into work!

back to Thursday, I was off to the shop, needing some RO water and I had to drop off some printing, a cold start to the day,

the only stand of daffodils flowering, the rest had been trampled into the mud by inconsiderate car parkers,

grey skies and guess what? a few snowflakes started to fall for a few minutes,

arriving at the Cromwell Road stop, the antiques store had covered its outside display as the snow had turned into a light rain,

over the road to the shop, water picked up and I was on my way home, and then it happened Graham called from the shop, the new BT box had stopped working and he could no longer take credit card sales as it meant that the machine that reads customers cards could no longer do so, he tried calling BT but was held in a queue, so he asked if I could call, long story short after 1 hour and 6 minutes on the telephone to BT the problem had not been resolved, by now Graham had locked up the shop and returned home, BT said that they would call me at 10.00 on Saturday morning, so for that reason I wanted to be in the shop in case there was any thing I could do to the BT hub whilst Graham could continue to serve customers, hence there only being one post today, as soon as I have posted this I will be on my way to the bus stop,

Diana had already returned home so it was then time for a sherry and a short read,

for tonight Diana had made a beef stew,

'Cheers!',

a chocolate mousse for dessert rounded off our meal, after the usual quiz shows there were none of our favourites being shown, so on to ITVX what a great channel it really is, we watched a couple from A Touch of frost before we were off to bed.

  1. Dear Stanley and Diana
Well, as I predicted, the other shoe has dropped!!! What is the magic word? FAILED!!!!!!!!!
Imagine a whole business being held captive by a little credit machine. Seems your shop found the weak link in the complex chain your vendor uses, so now you are the one punished with no finance recourse.
Maybe need to invest in a backup. There are several cheap devices small vendors and servicemen here use that attach to a cell phone. All you do is call to a bank account then run the card. Something like this may be not as complex and as your primary service fails, you could still honor credit cards and stay open. Welcome to the new world…we call it the FAILED world of modern technology

  2. Dear John and Alley, just received a call from the shop BT hub down again! so on the phone again to BT 3 times in 3 weeks! the upshot is that they, BT,
will hire the shop a machine to bypass this, but here is the rub, the engineers from BT will call mid April and then all will be well, but, but we have to hire the machine for a 1 year contract, we can not return it mid April when it will be no longer required, BT said sorry it is our fault (BT) but we can not loan you the machine, it is a 1 year contract or nothing! I have already sent details to a couple of the hand held devices that you mentioned, they say that I will receive the paperwork in 1 - 2 days, why can we not go back a few years and have everything as it was? still if you are an aggressive country what better way to bring your enemy down than by stopping all of these transactions from working, good job all of this hardware is not made in Chania! best regards, Stan and Diana.
