photograph Mtbangert, the US Coast Guard (which absorbed the US Lighthouse Service
in 1939) maintains aids to navigation that use technologies more modern than
lighthouses and no longer has a use for these historic structures. But the
General Services Administration wants to make sure that they are preserved. So
the GSA is selling these buildings to local governments and non-profit
organizations that will maintain them, at the time of writing there are 6 up
for sale, above included in the sale the Cleveland Harbour Main Entrance Lighthouse, I should point out that some are already maintained by non-profits organisations,
and those agencies will have the opportunity to apply to continue doing do, if
a new owner is not found, the lighthouse is offered for competitive bidding at
