it was our day out as it was Diana's day off,
and as you might have guessed we have posted 100 photographs or so, I must stop taking so many pictures! first stop a car clean, it was covered in dust and seeds from trees,
in no time we were here,
we started our walk down from the car park,
towards Caesar's Well, many years ago when water softeners were so expensive tropical fish keepers would make their way here for water,
because the water was soft, which is what many fish need as a trigger to make them spawn, and in many cases is essential for keeping some fish such as discus,
so a quick pose,
and close up,
water slowly rises from the ground,
and runs along a manmade culvert,
into the top pond,
which we started to walk around,
it was a tad muddy in places,
although there were a number of cars in the car park, there were very few people around the pond,
the top pond is overgrown with huge numbers of waterlilies and yellow flowering spatterdocks, (Nuphar advena),
a quick pose,
we made our way to the manmade wall which is across the pond, looking down to the middle pond I mention that the ice cream van was not here, but it was a tad cold for ice cream,
along the wall lots of water hawthorn, (Aponogeton distachyos),
which has as its name suggest,
flowers that have the aroma of the land based hawthorn tree, (Crataegus),
another pose as we start to walk down to the middle pond,
the overflow from the top pond making its way down to the middle pond,
then a squeeze,
past a tree,
to the middle pond,
and as luck would have it,
the ice cream van was making its way to its usual parking spot,
we walked along the lake side,
I mentioned to Diana as a kid I would come fishing here,
about here as it happens,
but no fishermen today as it is closed season,
just a few geese and ducks today,
every so often there was a gap in the waterside under growth,
where in a few weeks fishermen will be enjoying their hobby,
looking across the middle lake,
from one of the 'swims' as they are called,
a quick pose,
as we were now on the road that separates the middle and bottom ponds,
a panorama from the road,
looking back to where we had just walked from in the far distance,
as we walked by the road Diana made a video of me feeding the ducks, only 2 on the huge lake,
although it was a tad chilly,
we just had to have a ice cream each,
complete with,
a chocolate flake,
two to go,
we took a seat,
Diana held mine whilst I took a a quick photograph on her telephone, a two handed job!
whilst Diana ate hers I looked for a few fish,
with absolutely no luck, next time bring a fishing rod! we decided not to look at the bottom lake, but if you would like to see it have a look here when we visited it in March 2022,
we started our walk back along the side of the middle lake,
stopping on the way,
to take a few photographs,
look daisies!
just what to wear behind the ear!
we started on the small hill that separates the top and middle lakes,
and here we are at the manmade wall on the top lake,
that curves round to the path past the pond,
a quick pose,
looking back,
a pair of white geese, I could not help thinking about a roast goose dinner!
I have to admit I was surprised how few waterfowls there were here, it is almost if someone keeps eating them!
but here was a good sign a pair of teals with a few ducklings, a bit difficult to see, but they were here,
any minute now,
and we will be back in the car park,
and in no time we were at the car park,
past one of the planters with a nice crop of figs growing in it,
upstairs to peruse the menu,
it is a lovely building,
with so many beams used in its construction to give it a old barn look,
downstairs,
a food centre,
a latte coffee each,
and a slice of blueberry pie as a starter for Diana,
which I am told,
was delicious,
yummy!
then our meal arrived,
a spaghetti bolognese for Diana,
eyes down and tuck in,
for myself a chilli con carne, the bill came to £22.00,
whilst there we looked in the shop,
and bought some kebabs for next Saturday and a joint of pork which we will freeze for a Sunday lunch,
all clear to the left and go!
the sign as we left the car park,
and hit the country roads, what a lovely day out,
in the afternoon Diana caught up with some of the washing,
also a package had arrived, rather like CDs if I buy some music I want the
hard copy, the same applies for books, I want the hard copy not one that
could disappear when I stop paying a monthly rental on them, so I
ordered 5 books, 4 arrived to day 1 more to follow, all for just £21.00, I
use World of Books, as they offer free postage in the UK and
sometimes like this a offer of buy 3 books and receive 30% off,
time for my read and sherry I continued reading Labyrinths by Jorge Francisco Isidoro Luis Borges Acevedo, two more stories this evening, Kafa and His Precursors, followed by Avatars of the Tortoise, a study in maths and algebra if you are interested,
10 + 1 + 1 10 + 1 100 + 1 1000 + 1 10, 000 + · · ·
as well as
a + b = c.
but also,
according to Aristotle:
a + b + c =
d
a + b + c +
d = e
a + b + c +
d + e = f . . .
back to our meal, a lamb kebab on a bed of salad, most of whish was grown by Steve and Kai,
eyes down and tuck in,
for our main course rump streak and all of the trimmings,

Dear Stanley and Diana-Looks like a fun day out! Many pictures, Stan! We like your idea of getting hard copies of books as they do only appear for a time if on the web. We have been happy in USA with ThriftBooks-most books run about $4 each hardbound and they have free shipping through the USA postal service. Takes about 4 days once orderd but excellent choices on the titles and books are in "good to like new condition" Keep reading! Regards, John and Alley
Dear John and Alley, it was a nice day out we did not drive too far, there was a train strike that day, so many people did not go to work, but like us went out for a drive! I guess World of Books is the same as ThriftBooks, but in the UK. Good second read copies and they are yours for good, I now have enough for the next few months! best regards, Stan and Diana.
