Our Day Got Off To A Early Start,

at 03.33 in the morning an alarm sounded,

we took the batteries out of the three sensors we have in the hall, only to then realises it was the newly installed fire alarm!, so downstairs to the control box and a call to the company that told me what to do about silencing it, luckily many of the residents were away for the weekend, so only 3 of us were actually up and at the main control box, it appears it was a faulty sensor, so back to bed! after waking the company called round today and had a site inspection, all appeared well it was just one of those things,  I decide to add another small part of our Indian trip, we stated in one village looking at fish that had been collected in a glass jar, interesting but no new species, we had been shown what looked like a underwater stick insect, again a few rare fish, but all known to the aquatic trade already, the search for new species will continue, by now we had a coffee and ready to go out, as it was a bank holiday there was a antiques fair on at the mansion, we were off,

glad rags on,

it was a bit of a overcast day,

and as it was a bank holiday, lots of people in the park,

cars and vans parked along the road, all stall holders,

the wild grass section of the park dying down,

looking across what was once the golf course,

a quick pose from Diana,

behind the mansion, lots of benches, chairs and people,

the queues for the food stalls longer than we had ever seen,

and the bad news, the cake stall was not here!

so no cakes tonight,

but the other stalls were here,

selling all manner of goods,

a nice sign for the man cave,

having said the cake stall was not here, there were cake stalls, but not the one that sold cheesecake,

we continued looking,

for nothing in particular,

it was just amazing how much stuff was here,

from telephones,

to pictures,

and furniture,

as it happens I did like the two dogs,

and as for lighting these were on offer,

again for the man cave a clock and lots of toys,

as it happens a few items I remember graced my parents home in the 1950s,

and appear to be collectable,

like these soda syphons,

that I had just taken a photograph of,

Jessica Rabbit looking for new home,

we made our way to the enclosed garden,

through the gate,

and into the flower beds,

this one sadly past its best,

picnickers behind the clock tower,

I found our table, we have used it many times, it is a bit tucked out of the way, so not many park goers know where it is,

next to it a bee hotel,

our view from the table,

I grabbed the table as Diana queued for a coffee and a pizza,

'Cheers!', but it was not to be, Diana said the queue for pizza went out of the courtyard! so a packet of crisps it was then,

whilst sitting there we had a visitor,

before we made a move to look at the stalls behind the mansion,

a quick pose,

and we were walking back,

to look at the outside stalls,

we did not go inside, the last time we were here there were not so many people, but inside the mansion it was packed, so we did not venture in,

they say that vinyl records are making a come back, well there are plenty here to choose from,

a last look at the stalls,

as we make our way from the mansion,

towards the park entrance,

and looked like we left just in time as dark clouds started rolling in, after our evening meal Diana decided on a Sherlock Homes, two of them back to back courtesy of ITVX which we followed with a Midsomer Murder, before we were off to bed.

  2. Dear Anonymous, the building project has come to a shuddering halt, due to bad weather and illness of one of the contractors, as it happens today (Wednesday) Andy will be calling round to have a final look at the windows that need replacing, having said that the chimneys were finished last week, but the end of August finishing date will soon be past, and the windows have not even been made yet! the good news is that the scaffolding bill will not increase, hopefully another few weeks should see the job completed, I hope! best regards, Stan and Diana.

  3. Interesting-we see the same pattern here, always a reason for delay. Glad you have a finish date so at least they can’t charge you more! We are getting everything done here by fixed price quotes, Time and materials quotes are a price trap as no incentive to get the job done.
