rain all day today,
and tomorrow a unprecedent weather red alert, so we decided not to visit anywhere today, it is a shame as Diana has two consecutive days off, but we did start the day with a trip out, so wet gear on,
and through the drizzle we walked to the bus stop,
just in time to see the number 54 bus leave our stop in the distance,
thankfully we did not have to wait long for a 354, to take us to the stop for a 194,
we arrived here in Eden Park,
at the Toby Carvery for our breakfast,
first tea and coffee,
then grab a plate,
and start choosing,
decision made,
for both of us, the weekday breakfast is a help yourself buffet for £5.99 each, as well as unlimited food for a extra £2.00 each there is unlimited tea or coffee, and a nice tea too, Brooke Bond PG Tips,
we were full to bursting, now back home, hood up as it was raining,
when we arrived in Beckenham we walked from the bus stop to Lidl,
to buy some flowers for the table,
next a walk to the bus stop,
and we were on our way,
they looked nice,
off of the bus and past the flowers in the side garden of Foxgrove Lodge, arriving home we both relaxed, both of us agreeing we had eaten too much, but it was so nice, in the evening we had a Indian meal, some left overs from last night and Diana cooked a couple of pieces of chicken as well, we also had some strawberries later in the evening after watching BattleBots, next a Antiques Road Trip, a Lewis was showing after that,
we rounded off the evening with a Midsomer Murder, I should say if you have not watched any Midsomer Murders, they do take a bit of thinking to solve, tonight's was difficult to say the least, but that is what makes them so enjoyable, I am only making one post today, we will be watching the weather, hopefully the red weather warning will be downgraded, we shall see,
I had to post this, from Reddit, is it Photoshopped? the story behind it is here, but I thought it was amusing! so with that we were off to bed.
Dear Stanley and Diana-
ReplyDeleteWow, lots of rain! I wish we had a nice place here like Toby Carvery’s buffet! I know you have been there for their dinner also, looks great and also affordable vs most restaurants today. YES, once you introduced us to Midsummer Murders we have watched 1-2 per day. Most take some focus and thinking to solve. Alley and I have a good time working on the “ who done it” and about half the time we get a Hitchcock type surprise ending that we did not expect! Great show and thank you both once again for the good suggestion on this series!!!
Well, with first frost in London done, your favorite holiday-Christmas is just around the corner then2024!
Time sure is moving by fast!!!
Enjoy each day!
Regards
John and Alley
Dear John and Alley, the Toby is great value for money, no frills but great food, the reason this one has a buffet breakfast is because the pub is also a hotel, so guests eat here in the mornings, most Toby's just have a breakfast menu, but again I guess good value for money, I am glad you like Midsomer Murder, that being the case there are 2 other series in a similar vein that we watch, Endeavour, and the second one Lewis, if you see them I recommend you give them a try, they are based in Oxford where we have visited many time before, so the usual 'been there' as we are watch them, great that Christmas is just around the corner, we have already bought the Christmas cards, and in another week or so I will be struggling to bring the tree downstairs for the 1st of November, early I know but we enjoy the preparations so much, best regards, Stan and Diana.
