we were out,
so glad rags on,
and a walk to the number 162 bus stop, to go to Bromley, I should say I am only making one post today as I will be off again first thing to visit Duncan today, Wednesday, so as soon as post this I will be out, back to Tuesday,
this is where we were going in Bromley, to here, the Bromley Civic Centre, it was a big day for both of us, but especially Diana,
today Diana met the Lord Mayor of Bromley, and before him swore the pledge of allegiance to King Charles III and the country, 6 years and many thousands of pounds later, Diana is finally a citizen of Great Britain with all that that entails, to be able to vote, and go through the UK passport holders line at customs, instead of hours of waiting as we have done since we first started coming to the UK
and yes we were all smiles on the way home! we should receive the official photographs in a few days, as soon as we do I will post them, well done Diana! home and change, into the car to pick up Steve an Kai and we were off to here,
a pick your own cherry farm,
Chegworth Cherries
& Plums, Water Lane, Chegworth, Maidstone ME17 1DE. chegworthvalley.com,
cheery trees almost as far as the eye can see,
also apples,
that Diana posed beside,
but these apple trees,
although looking ripe, they were very small, not for eating but for being made into drinks that the farm is famous for,
we started looking for cherries,
that did not take very long,
the branches were laden down with them,
naturally I helped,
along with Steve and Kai,
well I just had too!
naturally I had to sample which trees were giving the nicest fruit,
we started back down the hill,
in the distance,
a rather nice place to live,
picking over,
back to the car,
the spoils of the morning, the cost was £7.50 per kilo, but luckily we were not weighed before and after our visit! as it happens we have visited this farm before, into the car and off for lunch,
to the Beefeater at the Malta Inn, where coincidently we went to with Rainham Steve once before, looking towards the lock,
and away from it,
a quick pose before lunch,
and our lunch is served,
baked salmon for Kai, fish and chips for Steve,
ribs and chicken with a coke for Diana,
fish and chips for myself and a latté coffee, we also ordered a bowl of onion rings, the bill for the two of us came to £41.00,
then a shared dessert,
a Biscoff sundae ice cream, which was a further £6.99, all of the meal delicious,
we then took a walk along the tow path, as it happens over the meal Steve and myself were looking to see how much it was to hire a narrow boat for a one week holiday,
like this one,
it was not cheap,
we continued looking at some of the craft moored in the River Medway,
all of these of course,
started out in life as commercial trading vessels, some in rivers, cannels and estuaries,
others sailing further afield,
whilst walking Steve found a nice stand of bamboo,
which like these had escaped from a garden nearby, we started walking back to the car, and found one boat in our price range,
admittedly it needed bailing out and some TLC, but you could not knock the price! back to the car, we dropped off Steve and Kai at their home, what a great day! arriving home it was feet up for a BattleBots, after which a double helping of,
Frontier, the series ran from 2016 to 2018, and we are now playing catch up! after which Diana was off to bed, another early start tomorrow, for myself a Have I Got More News For You, before I too was off to bed.
Dear Stanley and Diana-
ReplyDelete“The Big Day”. Diana, congratulations on achieving your citizenship, it will serve you well!!
We know it was a substantial amount of work and money, but you are now “official”!!!
As a side note, we both loved the digital pictures you got back-such a proper, good looking couple!!!!
Best-
John and Alley
Dear John and Alley, many thanks for your kind comments, it was a struggle, but now at last it is over, as you will see from today's post we have sent off for Diana's UK passport, so hopefully we will really be able to travel together, what a strain it all has been, and a relief it is all over, best regards, Stan and Diana.
