I Do Like Watches,

and here are three that have taken my fancy,

firstly the Grand Lange 1 Moon Phase in 18-carat yellow gold, the position of the moon-phase display in the hour and minute circle allows the large-format depiction of the moon and the starry sky. The model version in yellow gold features an ivory argenté-coloured dial crafted from solid silver, price on application, there are some second-hand ones out there for £35,000

from Vacheron-Constantin, two I like from the Patrimony range, the Moon Phase Retrograde Date, silver-toned opaline dial. Convex external zone with circular “pearl” minute-track composed by 48 polished 18K gold pearls,

18K gold moons with a starry sky. Retrograde hand-type date. 18K gold bi-faceted baton-type hour/minute hands. Blackened date hand. 18K gold applied hour-markers, price new £47,600, or,

from the same Patrimony range, in pink gold the Perpetual Calendar Ultra-Thin, just 4.05 millimetres thick, which will keep perfect time until 2100. The moon phase features a star-studded sky and two gold moons,

its open worked case back reveals the exceptional hand-finished details of the self-winding mechanical movement, yours for £84,500, but I can only choose one for Christmas, Oh! The agony of choice!
